AIDA: A European initiative aimed at promoting PhD-level AI education

The International AI Doctoral Academy (AIDA) is a key initiative within the AI4Media project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program. It aims to facilitate inter-university collaboration in AI education at the PhD level, providing a rich selection of AI courses led by lecturers from prominent institutions. By connecting universities and industry partners, AIDA ensures access to high-quality AI education resources for both AIDA students and the broader AI community.

AIDA offers a comprehensive range of educational opportunities, including short courses, semester courses (limited to AIDA students). In addition, the AIDA initiative promotes the organization of seasonal schools, these programs cover diverse AI topics, from computer vision, law and ethics to responsible AI and generative AI. Over the past three years, AIDA has delivered 41 short courses and 41 semester courses, reaching over 3,300 participants.

For the Fall 2024/Winter 2025 semester, AIDA is offering an exciting lineup of courses on cutting edge topics such as Constraint Programming, Big Data Analytics for Natural Disaster Management and Advanced Computer Vision among others.
